Wait. Isn't 'Deep Black' only a pearl effect paint?
You can't get a non-metallic Pepper Grey so surely deep black only comes in pearl effect.

If you ordered black it will be the "deep black pearl effect" and you should have paid about $500 more over say a candy white or flash red.
The brochure states metallic/pearl effect meaning that if you get a colour with either effect you pay more. They are separate effects and you don't get both together. You will have a pearl on the black, the pepper grey, reflex silver and shadow blue has metallic. And CW and red are plain.
If you want a Pearl effect colour, another option, albeit with a hefty price tag, is Oryx White Pearl. My new 6R GTI is in this colour and it's lovely. I doubt I would have sprung for the extra cost (RRP for the paint is $NZ1,800!) but it just happened that VW New Zealand had a vehicle just landed in the country in that colour with optional bi-xenons (which I did want), so we "negotiated" and much of the extra cost went away. It's an awesome colour by the way. I had a Candy White TSI before it and in my opinion, this is a far smarter colour, especially when you see it in the sun. It does have it's challenges though. I've added after-market parking sensors and getting them painted was a mission.
Paints have come a long way in the last 20 odd years & most 'pearl' paint on production cars these days is only a 2 layer system the same as metallic paint. It's a lot easier to match too & most competent Spray painters should be able do a repair without it standing out.
It sounds like you have just had the black pearl paint thrown in & not itemised on your docket.
Yes, the black would be the only 'pearl' effect colour offered & the rest are metallic if thats what it says in the brochure I'd say.

Alex is correct, the ONLY black available on the Polo is called "Deep Pearl Black" which is a pearlescent, metallic black.
There is no ifs or bits about it. Just to make it clear, THERE IS ONLY ONE BLACK AVAILABLE ON THE POLO. If you have paid more than the standard markup (whatever it is) then you have been screwed by a VW dealership. Surprise surprise, welcome to buying a VW.
