I think 38 is a bit high really but with 35 profile tyres I would start there.

I know I read somewhere that 34 is ideal for a standard Polo GTI, in regards to traction. So I suppose 36 would be were the standards would be.

I don't think tyre pressure makes much difference to wheel damage on a 40 or less profile.

Just an update. So i ended up going with the 215/35 tyres, they only had Kumho KU39's which were $50 cheaper than the Nitto Invo's i got, so they happily refunded me the money. They said they made a mistake and have not fitted many Polo's. They were honest which i appreciate.

They also responded promptly on Sunday when the shop is closed via their Facebook page and their separate Facebook profile.

I took some photos and added a few effects onto them using Camera+ on my iPhone, turned out quite nicely.

The ride is slightly bumpier than it used to be with the stock wheels but overall i'm very happy with the look of them, and of course $200 back doesn't hurt.

Thank you everyone for your help.
Can you post some less artistic pictures of the wheels and tyres please... one as a whole car too?
Looks good but it is a bit hard to tell to be honest.

also, post here >>> 6r aftermarket wheel thread of goodness and envy (and to some extent ride height as well)

its a good resource to have... but needs more wheels/heights (i think mainly wheels as heights can be much the same unless on coil-overs)

The car has been fitted with tyres that have a lesser load index than the original tyres, which means a reduction in the tyre's load capacity.

In this situation, further reducing the inflation pressure than what is already stated on the sticker runs the risk of overloading the tyres - especially those on the front axle (in a FWD car).

Due to the diminished margin of safety, I would not recommend going below the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations while the car is driven on public roads.

On a race track? Go nuts - experiment to your heart's content.
