Op has a Trendline which probably hasn't got Cruise or didn't when I bought our Polo.

Brad you are right but it depends on the guy and in QLD you can have darker at the back and get away with it but definitely not on front doors.. Along the lines of Vans have solid sides and rear doors so no real need to see through them as long as you have exterior mirrors

That's how I got round it

Cut out a piece of wetsuit rubber (or stubby cooler) about 3" x 1" and stick to outside of centre console to protect your left knee from hitting !

QLD doesn't have rego inspections yet, does it?

AFAIK, SA has annual inspection like NSW. They are supposed to check the VLT (I know, 99% never do but occasionally you get somebody that wants to do it "by the book"). Maybe I'm wrong - Transporter would know chapter & verse.

If it's a stock looking Polo driven by a stock looking person you can probably get away with it.

We are talking about the console between the seats not the one around the gear lever below the dash.
Would be pretty hard to hit your knee on that.
    LOL

If you are bumping your knee on the dash area you have your seat too far forward.

Only when you sell it I questioned Main Roads before I did it and they Okayed it along the lines of what I said.

I did however have 2 cargo barriers in the back so no one could sit there but after the big trip I just put the seats back and had to get a new roadworthy after getting the engineers plates for the seating redone. Didnt change the tint and they okayed it.

Depends on their mood at the time I think.

The vertical bit below the radio, forward of the gear lever, hits the side of my leg below the knee, hence the rubber. I dont know why the didnt make that part of the same soft stuff like in the dash top

Oh wow thanks for the responses guys! Really appreciate the feedback.

I bought the rcd510 - it's a Bosch revision A with rvc so hopefully it should work fine with my bt and phone (waiting on shipping).

I'll do the tinting in the next week or so and will probably hold off on the tires for now until my pay comes in.

Yeah, I agree on the tsi comments. Only prob was timing/cash at hand and needing a car sooner than later. This was the best car I could afford at the most upper end of my budget. Like I said, it's more to hold me over til I can upgrade and buy a decent one in a few years (likely a golf gti or sirocco).

So I reckon no performance mods but so long as the car is good on the interior, I'll be happy. Will add the centre armrest probably only because it is a good place to rest my arm when I'm not shifting gears. Otherwise it's a bit uncomfortable and I'll be driving heaps this year.

Thanks for the comments guys. Will post up pics after tinting. I love the car regardless. It's amazing going from my crappy 24 year old 250 spada bike to a brand new vw. Cheers!

As said the centre armrest is too high to rest your arm on and makes it hard to get at the handbrake as well It also gets in the way if you are turning left with your hand on the wheel at 9 oclock. You tend to hit your elbow on the front of it because of the height.

May be a shortass wont but I am 6ft 3 and have longish arms and find it an absolute pain.

Your car your money just a heads up

The most cost effect wheel upgrade would be the standard 1.2TSI alloys secondhand and refit your tyres.

    Hello all

I recently bought the Trendline 1.4 DSG (MY 14) and enjoy the drive compared to my Toyota and Getz. The only difference I find is that the Trendline is somewhat uncomfortable over long drives. I drive 700km a week and have found the seats to be quite uncomfortable after an hour - Is this the same for the TSI, TDI, GTI - from one who only test drove the Trendline, bad mistake I'd say. Its done 3000Km and I am thinking of selling it already - unless a few owners have a suggestion or can share their experiences. Thinking of getting cruise control in the interim as well to give the leg a bit of respite. Did look for a GTI manual - no such beast in the MY14

Has anybody els decided to change from Trendline
