    My New Toy!

    Hey,

So picked up my new toy yesterday morning with a total of 18km on the dial!!

First impressions are good! Very much enjoying it!

I do have a few issues like the front and rear passenger side rotors have some grooves in them. There is also a clunking noise when you reverse and put your foot on the brake for the first time (can anyone shed any light on this one?) and there seems to be a few small knocking noises here and there that i'll take to get checked out this weekend but apart from that its such a nice car to drive!

Anyone thought i just felt like sharing as sharing is caring!

    Thanks
    Blake

pads can knock when reversing and brake because they shift in the caliper as braking force is the other way.

re: knocking noises at low speeds when you start up the ABS system clunks and is completely normal.

i'd put a few k's on it before making too many judgements

i have the identical car and love it!

    My New Toy!

    Looks really good Blake

The clunk when reverse-braking is the pads moving slightly forward and back. Both of my cars do it so I assume its normal haha.

Thanks! I just wish I could start modifying but I wont to keep my warranty in tact. I'll be getting some matt black badges though sometime soon!

Well if its normal then i'll ignore it!

Any tips on cleaning the exterior and interior? So far ive got wash, clay bar, no idea which sealant and then some carnauba wax but not sure how to keep the interior clean. Also any one got tips on cleaning the engine bay?

    My New Toy!

For the interior – a vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth works for me.

    Congrates on the car!

For starters, don't use the drive in wash that's depicted in your picture. Try 2 bucket wash method, then dry, then clay bar, then use paint cleaner, then wax or use sealant to finish.

Interior, care care products (sponsor on this forum) have several treatments that may help.

    Enjoy the ride!

Congrats on the new purchase! Welcome to the GTI club.

May I suggest if you're going for a cruise to stretch its legs don't go Kangaroo Valley. While its very pretty, it's too slow, I don't rate it.

I'd be thinking of a blast around Jervis Bay. Definitely include Jervis Bay Road, that road is simply magical in the GTI!

    Grats on the new car!

If you want to go for a local drive just do the usual cotter run. Its nice if you go before lunch with a few mates and stop by casuarina sands for a quick bite.

Also, a couple days ago, were you near EPIC, specifically at the woolies petrol station lights heading toward the city? I did see a white GTI with detroits...

If you are from Canberra then Snowy Mtns highway, or from Bombala down to the Coast (Bombala/Cathcart Road). An order of magnitude better than the roads around Kangaroo Valley.
