Multimedia player on polo GTI incompatible for iphone/ipod ??

Hey everyone was told by VW service people that the multimedia player doesnt work with iphone or ipod unless you purchase this other usb cable ( so you cant use your own white USB cable that comes with your phone).

So there is no way around it besides either buying this cable from them or just hooking up your phone/ipod via bluetooth to play your music etc?

Yep you can connect the iPhone to the bluetooth and play it through that or you can buy a MDI iPod cable

They will probably also tell you that you can only tint your windows with them. This also isn't true

In my opinion, $99 for an iPod cable is simply too much, especially since you can bluetooth connect it to the car out-of-the-showroom (check out readerr0r's link in his signature for more info on that

You don't need to do any coding to get the A2DP (BT Audio) going -it should've happened when you connected up the phone-, though a lot of people mentioned it is better quality sound when you're not going through the Touchscreen unit.

Have a read though this to see what you can do with the BT system

If you only have an iPod, you just need to grab that MDI cable from eBay (which is much cheaper than the dealers).

Thanks for all your help. I think i might just buy the cable and also do the BT coding so I dont have to have the touch adapater in the cradle to use the bluetooth
