    Red face Modified!?

Hey guys, Just ordered a new GTI polo! , Super excited to get it.
The car enthusiast in me is already thinking about all the fun stuff I can do to this little bundle of joy!

Has anyone modified the 1.8L yet?? I'm interested in finding out what kinda power people are getting out of exhaust, intake and a remap on the ecu?! (Guessing all of the above would effect warranty)

And what are people doing for lowering them? Without killing the Ride to much.

Has anyone got photos of their modified GTIs???!!! Would love to see some!

P,s. They're trying to talk me into Interior protection, Paint protection and Tint. Claiming its far superior to the competitors? Just a sales tactic? I can get all of the above much cheaper from another source.

    Welcome on board rek!

    Disclaimer - Personal opinion only*

Modifying the Polo GTI: 1st question is it DSG or Manual? If it's a DSG I wouldn't (won't) mod the engine/ECU or you risk destroying the DSG.
Lowering: Cheap option is springs / on mine it made the 'firm' ride harsh but accapteble to get rid of the AWD look. I didn't want to spend the additional $'s above the cost of springs.
I've never bought 'aftercare' products on a new car - yes it's convenient BUT in some cases the dealer makes more out of this than the deal itself. Places like Tint-a-car are an easy 1 stop shop & should be less or look around & get each component done by somebody reputable in your area.
    2015 MY15 Polo GTI 6C - Blue - DSG. SOLD
    2011 MY12 Golf R - Rising Blue - 5DR - DSG - 19" Silver Talladega's - MDI - BT - Leather. SOLD July 2017
    2017 MY17 Golf R - White - 5DR - DSG - sunroof
    2018 MY18 Golf GTI Original - White - 3DR - DSG

    Thanks mate!!! .
I went the manual, because DSG scares me.
Would hate to fork out for a rebuild on one of those bad boys. What brand of springs did you go? Do you have any 'after' photos?
Yeah I think I might shop around on the after care. Old mate said he would cut me a really good price, but still seems dear as poison.

Quick note on DSG. (without turning this into a transmission comparison thread)

I run the DSG on my 6R Polo GTI. (admittedly, it was the only option available when purchasing 6R GTI)
Modified with full stage 2 (see signature). Goes really hard at cruises and at the drags (current best quarter mile of 13.5 a few months ago), owned the car since new, and love every minute of it. Can't believe I've had the car 3 years this month!

Gear changing without having the slowdown of removing off the throttle throttle makes a huge difference.
DSG has come a long way, and if you look at most Euro's the DSG version is usually always quicker than its Manual brother.

All the best with the mods on the 1.8! I'm jealous of that extra engine capacity, the potential is HUGE!

Here's some pics of mine, not heavily modified compared to what the Polo guys are doing over in the UK, Germany and Turkey, but it turns heads.

Here in the UK, there's a plug and play warranty safe box by a company called DTUK, brings the GTI 6c to 246bhp

Same for the Burger Motorsports JB1. Take it off when/if you need to take car back to dealer, leaves zero trace in ecu.

Man that is a sweet looking Polo! Love it!

    13.5 that's awesome!

What did you do to lower it? What size and offset are the wheels? Sits very nicely.

Ill have to look into these APR kits! Hopefully someone local can get it in for me.
