Might be ordering a Polo GTI tomorrow, but what color??

    Hey!

After many weeks of thinking back and forth (and reading all your posts) I think I´ve made up my mind and will order a 2012 Polo GTI tomorrow.. Expected delivery is mid. sept.

Got a real good price on the GTI, but I had to push the dealer a little on the trade-in, won´t get the results of that until tomorrow though so we´ll see..

One thing I´m really having a hard time with is what color I should choose, white, silver, black, or..?

Another thing, should I order it with alarm, is it good for anything anymore or just a waste of money..?

    Thanks for the feedback,

    Thomas (from Norway)

"Gratulerer" VdubBully on your decision to get a Polo GTI. I think you are making a great choice, but then again I am biased!

What colour, wow that is a difficult question. I am getting white as I like the contrast with black elements of the car, including the sunroof that I have ordered ordered. Silver and Red also look great, but I have had cars in that colour before and wanted something different. I really like black too, however having owned a black car I personally wouldn't do it again. Although black looks great when all polished up, it shows the dirt terribly and also swirl marks and chips seem to be more visible. At the end of the day it really is a personal choice. Go with your gut feeling and I am sure you will be fine.

Re the alarm, I personally don't think it is worth it and would spend the money on other things. The car has an immobiliser and security coded stereo so I personally think an alarm is a bit of overkill. On the other hand I am not sure what the situation is with insurance in Norway. If you get significant savings on the insurance premium by having an alarm then it may be worthwhile.

Hope this helps. Let us know what you decide.

Thomas, great choice (again, I am biased!)

When it came to colour choice for me, my list was
    1st White
    2nd Black
    a very distant 3rd Red
    4th Reflex silver
    5th Grandpa blue

I did quite a bit of looking at the different colours on the internet and as soon as I saw the cady white with bi-xenon lights in the brochure, I was sold! At that time is was going to be black but I just couldn't go past white. The silver is a little too bland for my tastes and I have always had a bit of a stigma against little red "sportscars" because in my mine, a red sportscar has to be loud and brash, plpus my girlfriend tells me that unless it's a muscle car or italian, red hot hatches are "girly"! No offence Grave Dilute either, I am only re0itterating what I have been told and why I can't buy a red hot hatch

if anything it should make your insurance premium cheaper

as for colour, black looks great but is hard to keep clean. i'd go silver...or white with black wheels

White or Red - Polo GTI looks great with either.
I ordered mine in red but have been having second thoughts...

You've made a good choice with the Polo GTI!

I have a red but actually wanted a white.

Hey, in my case it was Red Polo in 3 weeks time vs White Polo in 2012 (maybe)

I'd avoid the blue, it's too pedestrian.

The silver has a nice sheen to it that I also wouldn't have minded.

    1st - Silver
    2nd - White
    3rd - Yellow (rare colour)

Black, no. Had a black car, never again. Too much work keeping it clean
Red, no. Too many red GTi's around
Blue, no. because it is not the Golf R blue
