Loud cold startup rattle noise

hi guys
my 2010 77tsi has been suffering loud rattle on cold start up. i have heard that it maybe due to faulty cam chain tensioner for early 2010 engine.
Has anyone have the same problem?
Does anyone know if the dealer will cover the cost for changing the faulty part since my warranty just ran out

Not sure if this is your particular issue but fuel line rattle was a common problem for the early 77TSI's, easy fix for the dealer though. Shame it won't be done under warranty.

Fuel line rattle is at idle with engine warm, the rattle on startup is generally the chains. If you have full service history then it will most likely be covered under warranty. If not then your up for a gamble.

i have spoken to both vw customer service and local dealer, they advise me to book in for diagnosis and if it is caused by faulty tensioner, the repair MAY be covered by so called "good will" warranty.

They won't go out on a limb and say it's covered. As you may turn up with no service history and sand poured in the motor.
