Loud "Clicking" under heavy acceleration *Clutch replaced recently*

    Hi all,

I have recently had my DSG clutch and driveshaft input seals replaced on my 2010 Polo GTi (6r Twincharge) about 3 months ago. Since I have received my car back I have noticed under heavy acceleration there is a loud "click" which occurs three times then stops. Now this does not happen all the time and will mostly occur when there is some slight corning at the same time of acceleration. The noise is hard to pin point when driving but is loud enough that everyone in the cabin can hear the noise. To me, the noise sounds like it is coming from the front drivers-side wheel.

The noise is very similar to a bolt that is very tight and trying to loosen it which causes a loud creaking/clicking noise (this is the easiest way to explain it). Now I would take it back to the dealer who carried out the service work and have it inspected but they will charge me $145 and being the noise doesn't always occur means this may be a waste of money for a mechanic to give it a quick squirt around the block in hope that the noise shoes itself.

Does anyone have any idea's of what could be causing this noise under the circumstances? Or perhaps had this same thing happen to them?

Any help with this would be much appreciated!

    - Sean

Kind of sounds like the CV joint to me... I had some gearbox work done on my manual transmission Tiguan last year & it seems as though the not-very-careful removal of the CV's (to get the gearbox out) wrecked both my CV's... I ended up having to get some refurbished ones that are still going well 12 months later.

Take the wheel off the side that you hear the noise & see if there is grease everywhere near the CV joint.

This is funny you mention this as the mechanic/s who worked on my car ended up struggling to undo one of the bolts holding the air filter box in place. As a "quick fix" they decided to snap the plastic bracket off and leave it as is. I later found this out and now questioning what else they broke...
