Kilometres and Fuel Consumption/Pricing thread

Basically would like to start this thread for users to post their feedback of how many Kilometres they have done on a full tank (Whether using 95 or 98 ).

Please State fuel brand you have used, pros/cons (Egg smell etc)

Kilometers you have managed to achieve in a full tank

Edit* Also please state how much it costed you to fill up including what the price per Litre was (Example $1.27 per litre etc)

Would be good if this topic can be Stickied to help new polo owners make an informed decision on a fuel brand. (Lets face it not all of us are Michael Schumacher's who take the time to research fuel we use )

i will be checking this thread frequently.

i'd like to see the polo TSI fuel economy- i think it really has the potential to render redundant the need to pay a higher premium for a diesel model, just to save fuel money in the mid-long term.

especially in light of the fact that, at least in the 9n3 polo diesel, fuel consumption with a STOCK tune wasnt anywhere near the claimed 5.0L / 100kms for combined driving. i had to get a tune before i got that kind of economy.

TDI is not that much better than the TSI currently available in OZ. Certainly not on the spec sheet I read frequently before I go to bed!

first thing i did in mine was drive it from melb to brisbane
i averaged around 610kms to a tank which i think is pretty damn good for a 1.8T and 45L tank

and around melbourne i usually pay around $55 to fill it (varying from 1.25 - 1.35/L)

only use vortex 98 aswell, never had any problems with it, ive used the BP ultimate once or twice but cant really tell the difference between the two

ok update on my TSI currently has done 334km;s...the dealer filled the car up to my surprise with 98 Caltex Vortex, the computer suggest there is a good 340 kms remaining, stay tuned.

I used 98 on my old Nissan Pulsar SSS 00' and she did quite a few kilometers as well.

i know. i was a little disappointed by the poor consumption figures of, and the fact that they would only bring, the 66tdi to australia. they should have brought the 77tdi- 101kw and 318nm with a p-tronic diesel piggyback chip. not bad for a small 1.6 liter diesel.

the audi a1 tdi had fuel consumption figures of 3.8L/100kms, which would have been sweet, but then again they probably wouldnt sell that car for any less than $40k on road, realistically (e.g. how many bmw 320i sedans do you see in infront of bmw dealerships for $75k+, on road.... hardly a well priced car).

and yes, torque matters. after having driven a small humble polo tdi that makes mid 90's v8's looking ****ing stupid on anything but a dead straight line, trust me- torque matters a lot.

I am not driving spiritedly with my POLO, really trying to warm it up just yet. haha, I got the NA version because I need a 3 door small car.

I imagine the torque with help with the cornering. Another thing is, driving spiritedly will not do the fuel consumption any good, I suppose...

yes, the torque helps A LOT with out-of-corner acceleration. 0-100 is pathetic due to a super short first gear (-40kmh). in gear acceleration after that, though, can be entertaining

Does the Polo TDI have any Torque Steer?

I doubt it has enough torque for torque steer.
