    Jacking from front

I'm doing an oil change tomorrow myself and was wondering if anyone knows where I can jack up the car at the front to get to the sump plug?

Jack it from the normal spot at the side and then place the stand under it then do the other side. You'll struggle to get a jack under the front of the car. Other option is just drive the car up on ramps.

i can make a ramp/block but would be keen beans to know where the actual jacking point is down the centre so I can jack it from there as I don't have a jack stand..

Couldn't you just jack it up from the middle of the sub-frame?

If you dont have jack stands DO NOT WORK UNDER YOUR CAR!
There was a guy on the news just two days ago who was killed because he was working under a car using only the jack. He was found two days later!
I have many friends who have had close calls from cars moving on jacks, I've had them myself.
Dont do it its not worth your life for an oil change.
Go and get a couple of cheap standes from supercheap. Thats all I use, just make sure they're rated for the weight of your car.

We have 4 three ton jack stands so the oil was changed... I only wanted to know if there's a jacking point down the centre so it wouldn't be as hard of a job to do :/ I've been working on BMWs for a while and this was my first manual oil change on a VW...

I have used the subframe to get the car up a little higher when needed. But you still need to jack it at the sides first as the subframe is so far back you cant reach it with a jack.
Its pretty bulky so im pretty sure its strong enough.
Sorry if I came across a little stong before but you mentioned not having any stands to put the car on!
There are to many DIY guys around who dont understand basic safety when working on a car!
