its not hard to change an oil filter correctly

My 77tsi is off lease now so finally have choice of maintenance. Had my 75K service done last week. Non-dealer VW specialist found the local dealer hadnt set the ECU to australia in pre delivery. Not such a big deal. What is a big deal is that the that the inner seal on the oil filter was squashed and mangled inside the engine. So basically my dirty oil has just been bypassing the filter circulating round and round for 15000kms. F'n morons.

I have never trusted dealers to service the car well.

Did you take a photo? I'm sure VW would be interested to know how something could be incorrectly.
