The publication date for the VAG Self Study Programme 390 "The 7-speed Double Clutch Gearbox 0AM" is 12.2007
Interestingly, there isn't a Self Study guide for the 550Nm 7sp in erWin. But Wikipedia is another source which states the dry clutch came first, in addition to the DQ500 article that DoggieHowser posted earlier.

Yes, but the DQ500 is the VW transverse version, whereas the Audi longitidunal version predates that by a number of years .....

Bloody hell, this must be a record for a post getting to 3 pages in length!

I only posted it as a bit of a think-tank style discussion! So, do we know, 100% sure, that the 7Speed DSG in the new Tiggy is or is not the same as in the Polo GTI and Golf 118TSi....?

    Got this from another thread:

    DQ500 transverse

It's apparently used in the Audi TT-RS as well so not just in big SUV/trucks.

Audi S-Tronic longitudinal used in the S5 and R8s

Of course, this is all moot to the OP's question since there was already a source saying the Polo GTI 2010 uses the DQ200.

But it does beg the question: why no DQ500 in the Golf R?

I was looking at a couple of drag races between the 2012 GTR vs the 2012 Turbo S, and in the Fifth Gear one where they at least pitted two more equally capable drivers with decent launches, it appeared to me that the GTR had a better acceleration off the line but on a very long drag strip, the Turbo S' 7th gear gave it much better high speed acceleration vs the 6 speeder in the GTR.

I expect a good 7 speeder on the R would have really brought it to a different level from the GTI and maybe make that fuel consumption just a tad better.

Or is that reserved for MkVII?

Actually, the Wikipedia is talking about the Audi version and doesn't even mention the DQ500. As does the 03/08 date of the picture that Doogie just posted...
Here's a link to an article which includes the Audi press release for the 7sp wet clutch launch - Audi's press release is dated 2008-03-19

Yes, 100% confirmed that Tiguan 7spd DSG is 550NM rated (and AWD) ..... also, 100% confirmed that new Multivan 7spd DSG is 550NM rated (and both AWD and FWD).

That didn't answer my question Sharkie, that's like a politician or Victorian Police cheif commisioner's answer...

I'm not sure what Sharkie didn't answer, but if you need it worded another way:
The Tiguan & Transporter/Multivan both use the 7sp wet clutch DSG rated for 550Nm, and not the 7sp dry clutch DSG used by the Polo and Golf models.

I'm 100% sure that the 7 speed DSG in POLO and Golf 118TSI is NOT the same as in T5 and Tiguans.

    Asked.

    And answered

The Polo GTI also marks another important first: it is the first volume-market model to have dual clutch transmission as standard equipment. No alternative is offered to VW’s seven-speed, dry clutch DQ200 DSG gearbox
at least for the polo bit.
