    Incar DVD/GPS/Reverse Camera/ PlayerInstall Melbourne

    Hi Guys,

Still new to posting so here it goes...

Was at Epping Shopping Center (North) on the weekend and I saw small stand selling in-car navigation/DVD units for all types of cars including VW. Me not really happy with the RCN510 I am looking for a replacement unit that I can use to play DVD/DivX, hook up to a reverse camera, GPS, etc.

Well these guys seem to have the answer. Link here
They are based in Airport West. The model they fit the Polo's has the specs below.

    Specs
7 inch High resolution (RGB 800*480) digital TFT LCD Monitor
    DVD/VCD/CD/MP3/MPEG4/DIVX/CD-R/WMA/JPEG format playback
Built in analog Tv tuner, , digital TV optional
    Built in FM/AM tuner,
    RDS receiver function built-in
Dual zoon system, the front LCD and connected back LCD is different program for
    you choose.
Built in GPS system with dual zoon function: (listening music while in navigation mode)
VOICE navigation: through dual zoon function, you can listen the navigation while in
    watching DVD or TV.
Built in Bluetooth for hands free call, history log, dial keyboard
    Built in 4*45W amplifier
    1 A/V input(1 video,2 audio), 1 A/V output(1 video,4 audio).
    Auto rear viewing function
    Mute at telephone calling
Picture adjustment (brightness, contrast, color, settings)
Card size Full function remote control
    Steeling Wheel control ports
    With treble/medium/bass adjust function.
USB jack and two SD card slots for MP3,MP4,WMA,AVI,JPEG files.
    Electronic & mechanical anti-shock system

My question is, has anyone come across or heard anything about these?

The saleswomen said that they cost about $950 + $150 for installation where they come to you and install it on site. The installation takes about 2 hours.
She also mentioned that the steering wheel controls will still continue to work and so will the info on the dash.

All this seems to good to be true.

    Your expert thoughts?

I've got an aftermarket Sat nav in my Passat. Previous owner put it in so I've got no idea what brand it is but it's bloody useless. Screen resolution looks like something out of an Atari from the 80's. Can't even get a radio signal most of the time. You can buy genuine RNS510 for a similar price.

That specific unit is for the old Polo...

The Chinese units aren't that good, the ANS-810 in the VW Car Audio section is pretty close, but the amount of little bugs it has looks like a pain personally.
    ANS-810 / ANS-510 (PROPER RNS-510 alternative)

You can grab the fully legit RNS510 for about $1100 and then $150 install. (I've installed a few for Audi Upgrades, they're good guys)

If you have a GTI then the audio menu will still work with the LCD screen between the tacho and give you a new menu that shows the Nav directions too. Just like the RCD510, the RNS510 can take the proper VW badge RVC unit but has a better quality screen and DVD playback.
