If i drove from sydney to melbourne in a 77TSI would i make it on one tank?

I am just wondering...cos i am a tight arse.....at the moment....i am calculating that it would be cheaper to drive then to get on a plane....i just wondered if that was true or not

Forget Petrol - how much is your time worth?

1hr vs 8-10 hours? How much work/personal time can you fit in to that.

Not sure if it's comparable but I did the Sydney to Melbourne trip in our Golf 118TSI. Made it there on one tank of BP ultimate with 1/4 tank left at our destination. averaged 6.2l/100km

I know the airplane ride is amazing for time!....but i don't really have $300 to drop on a plane ticket right now.....if i can get there and back on 2 tanks.....thats $100....can't really complain.

    1hr?
It's nearly 1.5hr flight time. Factor in getting to airport and getting there early enough.
Then factor in waiting for bags and getting transport to the city.
You are looking at more like 4 hrs door to door.

You also have to factor in wear and tear on your vehicle, possibly damage, speeding fines, tolls. It could quite easily add up to more than $300.
