How to remove lower dash cowling (even possible?) and Can Low/High wiring question

    Hi all,

Installing the OPS kit I got from the same guy who is selling us the Bluetooth kits from Spain. Good kit, using all proper polo control units now the 3c8 Passat ones etc so it should all talk nicely however the manual for installation is not ready so i have given it a crack myself and have a few questions from those 'in the know'

    1) the can wiring goes to Can High/Low 12+ and ground and im guessing from the instructions I have managed to find from the net (for a golf admitantly) that the can gateway control unit is up behind the dash, but for the life of me I cannot get the lower dash cowling off to get at it. Does anyone know 1) where the control unit is and 2) how to remove the cowling? I looked at ETKA and it 'looks like' the cowling is actually 1 piece and actually part of the dashboard panel and not meant to be removed?

    2) Is it possible to catch the can bus in a more accessible location? In particular I was thinking of the plug that goes into the RCD510, it has the necessary 12v and grounds along with the required CAN Low/High (what is that by the way??) wires, which I can easily get to. Is this an option?

    TIA all,
    Aaron
