My car has done almost 62k still on original tires on the back, however they will need to be changed soon.

. But a guy at work recons he got nearly 90k out of his. I can't believe he doubled my tyre life. Is he full of it?

If you accelerate & brake very conservatively and do lots of motorway miles, run higher tyre pressure & X-rotate the tyres then 90k isn't hard to achieve.

Dad's Subaru Liberty RX got 110,000km out of his original tyres & the only reason we changed them was because they had aged too much (the rubber was like concrete).
