How to change/replace the fog light bulb on your Polo 6R

Actually, tinting the lenses or doing the rice trick of yellow cellophane don't yield the extra penetration. The light itself needs to be a warm yellow light to get the penetration through fog, tinting the lens or cover will help you see through the immediate fog better (which is why mountain roads have yellow line markings) but not penetrate further.

Just a thought why don't you try LED H8 bulbs?

    Hi Bassik

Well, good question. I guess it's because i had some bad experience with the LED bulbs in the past. Nothing major, just the one i ordered was dead on arrival. Then i just didn't bother to test out any LED bulb from eBay. But yes, i know there are plenty of quality one.

I never really need foglight really, coz i live in the city and 90% of the time i drive around CBD area. So, foglight will really just be a decoration for me if i attempt to turn it on.

Interesting, i might give those bulb a try next time. Again, I know what a foglight should be properly used for, but i don't need it for most of my driving time, so "looking good" is my number 1 priority here.

Thanks for the example, do you mind let me know where you got them from? that web address shown on the pic?

Tail lights are held in place by 1 white big plastig screw on the back of each unit. Can be a bit tricky to get out of you have big hands. Take the screw out and the unit can simply be pulled out

Can you post a pic of the location as I can't find any on my 6R. Sorry I am very new to this and have not modded any vehicle.

    no problem.

Inside the trunk on the backside of the light units you will see this. You will see the screw, the spring to prevent it from vibriting loose, and the cable plug. The cables are long enough to unplug one you take the unit out

Wow thanks. Do we need to cut any material to expose the screw?

I plan to import smoked EU/AU style tail lamps as the ones in India are bland (Cost cutting measures, afterall, Highline model in India costs just AUD $10944.54)

Since we are at it, do we have a tutorial to convert LHD tail lights to RHD? I don't intend to cut/splice wires as it will void warranty.

Well you have to rip out the lens for the foglight (pliers work quite nice!) and then get a red bulb to replace the foglight on the other side. So rip the red lens out of the left tail light ad put the clear reversing bulb in and put a red fog light bulb in the right tail light (or you can leave it if you don't intend to use the foglight).

On the plugs there is one wire on the bottom that either controls the fog or reverse light.

Take the left tail light for example the plug has a pin empty at the bottom. De-pin the pin just above the empty spot ad put it in the empty spot.

With the right light it's the same but in reverse. The plug has a free pin 2nd from the bottom. De pin the bottom pin and move it up to the empty spot. That's if. If you don't do this you won't have reverse or fog lights. Everything else if fine though and will work out of the box.

I'm also think of going down the LED fog light path as well. Anyone know of any good tried and tested brands? Did a search on ebay but there so many sellers to choose from and I don't always trust their photos.
