    HID in high beam

Has anybody thought about or actually put HID H7's into the high beam on their polo?

I do a bit of highway driving and want some extra light but am not that keen on extra spotties.
I was thinking about doing it to my Touareg as well.

It's not normally done because HID's don't like being turned on/off often

If you have dual headlight bulbs/projectors then HID's on the low beam will remain on when you turn hi beam on - so you will will still have the HID benefit even when using high beam

    Thanks Martin.

    No projectors here.

I think that I'll give the 65w Osrams H7 globes a go in the high beam.

There are a lot of 4WDers out there with HID spotties!

There is no requirement for automatic headlamp levelling and cleaning devices to be fitted for the main beam (i.e. high beam).

That aside, retrofitting any bulb into a headlamp housing which it isn't designed for would not be considered roadworthy by most authorities.
