Heads up - iOS 7 currently breaks media player controls

Just letting everyone know that the current beta of iPhone iOS7 breaks the ability to control the tracks (pause, skip etc) from the Polo. You can still control it on the phone directly but that would make it not "hands free"!

I doubt Apple will change this so if this is important to you don't upgrade your iPhone to the new iOS until VW makes an update.

Which iPhone are you using? I've got an iPhone 4 with the latest iOS 7 Beta and the music controls work fine with the stock music app as well as Spotify.

It could be to do with the 30 pin to Lightning adaptor not being entirely compatible with iOS 7 yet. Remember that iOS 7 is still full of random bugs that will (should) be fixed before the GM release on September 10th.

I reckon he means through Bluetooth. Or both.

Keep in mind you're using beta software.

as far as i recall, the way the MDI link and Bluetooth work with the iPhone is a standard protocol. If its not working it's likely it's not going to work in other devices, and is something they would likely want to fix.

That's like saying every speaker dock will stop working properly, there would be too much consumer reaction to not do something about it beyond having apple say "you're driving it wrong"

Oh right. My car doesn't have Bluetooth so I was taking about the MDI.

Yeah it'll be fixed when the full non-beta version comes out early next month. VW is one of Apple's partners with Siri Eyes-Free so you'd hope that they would test their software with a VW and make sure it works properly.

It works fine via Bluetooth. I've been using it for a while now and I haven't encountered any problems.
