Get in touch via Facebook with VCDS Coding and Diagnostics Sydney. They have aftermarket xenon headlights for the Golf and Polo. I bought a set for my Mk6 GTI earlier this year and the quality of the lights is quite good (better than i expected).

Although the headlights are aftermarket, they are very close to the same design used by VW.

I had some led h7 globes in mine. The first set got fried as there is no air flow to keep them cool with the covers on. I got a second set under warranty and left the covers off, but water got in and shorted them out.
You can buy the xenon headlights but there not cheap and technically illegal with out the pop up washers.
You can get some HID globes. Again not street legal but it just depends on where you drive and the risk of getting caught. I only know two people out of probably 30 with HID globes or xenons that got defected but they went way to bright for living in a city.

What model polo is it? 6r or 6c? Gti or other model?

6C is the updated version with the 1.8T engine which came out about 18 months ago. The 6R has been out since around 2012.

So it sounds like it's a 6C non gti. So the above mentioned lights may look a bit off with red stripes on a stock polo.

You can legally fit Xenon headlights without washers and levellers as long as the light output is less than 2000 lumens.

Which is a waste of money as you might as well use the highest output Phillps one. 2000 lumens is barely more than standard headlights,

Anything above that requires both washers and auto levellers and about $4000 to do it right

As far as brightness or whiteness is concerned, higher K numbers dont make for more output Betweenn 4000 to 5500K gives the whitest light and best amount of light

I'm trying to make sense of the requirement for washers if you run xenon headlights?
There's probably a really simple reason....but enlighten me...
