Beside the hardware, you need to modify a setting in VCDS...
Hey, does anyone know if this kit (or something similar) could work on the polo?
Home Page > ES#1895197 Hatch Pop Kit - 5K0898004
Seeming the key already lets you pop the hatch about a centimetre open, it would be cool if it could open all the way.
Thanks,
alexaescht.

So could I buy the kit here: Home Page > Search > Hatch Pop Kit > ES#1895197 Hatch Pop Kit - 5K0898004 and then just trim back the stoppers? Or is the kit used in the thread (the link in the YouTube video) different?
If I could use the ECS Tuning kit and trim the stoppers it would be easier.
Thanks again.

The car in the vid has basically the same setup. It uses 1996 Seat Toledo shocks and trimmed Scirocco stoppers
I must say, that's pretty cool.
From the looks of things, those struts have got a lot more pressure in them. If it makes it too hard to close the boot though, the convenience might be lost. Especially for my missus. Anyone seen this in practice?

I have, and you just described the very reason I don't have it on my car. I'm used to pulling the trunk down en letting it gently 'fall' into place, and with the firm springs in place it would just slam me in the face again
I work with gas springs every day at work and I can tell you that to get the hatch to do that is all well and food in winter but have it in summer especially this summer, fair chance you will break your car. Gas springs have a lineal increase in force from extended to compressed, this rate is not lineal when it comes to hot weather. They can become quite dangerous in 35 degree heat, especially seeing as on a hot day, a car can quite easily hit 60 inside.

I'm not that worried. We almost never ever get 35 degree here for more than a week And we just found out that in winter the springs are too weak to open dhe hatch, so the force isnt that great
