I have seen some pretty ill-informed comments before but to say that an illegal $100 HID reflector conversion is superior to an engineered factory fitted bi-xenon setup with projectors is ridiculous at best.

Unlike the back yard job the merc/bmw factory bi-xenons have to meet standards, have to produce useful light, not blind other road users, have self leveling, a cleaning system and the list goes on.

Retrofitting Xenons (HID) Lighting to reflector housings

Well that's for sure one very silly comment,
I'm sure you didn't mean it. What Maverick said to you in the post above, explains you why. Keep in mind that fitting not ADR approved light anywhere on the outside of the car will make your car unroadworthy.

    Aftermarket HID set
    35W or 50W
    6000K to 12000K

    OEM Bi-Xenon HID set
    35W
    Generally 4200K

    Which one is brighter?
    ---------------

Aftermaket HID is designed to fit reflector units
OEM Bi-Xenon HID is designed to fit a projector unit

Which one has the sharp cutoff to prevent light affecting oncoming traffic and which one has a massive amount of light scatter to blind oncoming traffic?
    ---------------

If you bothered to read the link I posted it explains the difference in detail with pictures and if true projector bi-xenon units do cause you problems on the road you should see a optometrist or stop driving at night. And rest assured that aftermarket retrofit units are much much worse.

    *relax im being sarcastic here*

I'm thinking of attaching aircraft landing lights to the roof of my polo, will this improve visibility on the road?

But yeah im with Maverick 1. Something needs to be done about these illegal retrofits that can blind the hell out of any man especially on crappy habib tin wheel hoons.

    2. It flickers sometimes and can drive people insane (due to poor quality of the product)

The problem with all of this Maverick is that the police and the Government is in Revenue raising mode, so they are more than likely focusing on speeding/drink driving clowns rather than defect hoons.
