I know this is an old thread but I hope you guys can help me.

I have quite a few intermittent creaks coming from the dash when I drive over some (even minor) road irregularities - see my signature for car details.

I applied this RCD510 fix (improved felt-only version), which has improved things, but I still have noises coming from near the A-pillars I think.

    Questions:
    1) Are there any other instructions like these to fix dash noises? (Couldn't find anything via the forum search function.)

    2) Are there people/businesses who specialise in fixing rattles and creaks like these? If so, has anybody used them and what are their experiences?

By the way, this how-to is awesome! Very easy to follow for a non-expert like myself!

Had a load of dash rattles in our 9N3 polo over rough road. 6c is tight as a drum. Fixed the 9N3 by using a knuckle rap to identify the panels that might make noise. Pull them off and use the same Moroday memory foam weatherseal tape form Bunnings. The relevant bits of the service manual would help. The other tape of relevance is the black flock fabric tape for smaller rattly parts like plastic connectors, which can be bought from Wurth. I suppose one could use exclusively the black flock tape, but when I was rattle hunting years ago, I hadn't figured out where to get it.

Thanks for that! I have actually already applied plenty of felt and weatherseal tape, but the dash is still creaking regularly. I suppose you just gotta keep on taping

    Hello all,

    Great thread Barracuda.
Just wondered if anyone has got information on how to access below the Cigarette Lighter on the Polo GTI 2013 ?

I want to use the spare blanking plate just to it's right for an extra USB and add a couple of hardwires for 2 Dashcams additional to the Cigarette lighter.

I will run a relay and I have no issues with getting the wiring correct, just dont want to break any trim whilst I am doing it.

Happy to call you if you could walk me through it a bit... but looks like a seat out (airbag version) proposition too as the rear of the centre console appears to have little space to get the armrest clear.

    Can anyone help please ?

    Stephen

I’ve got a 6C that rattles over coarse chip roads here in tassie. I’ve found it’s the plastic cover over the speedo that’s vibrating against the frame, as when I gently touch the clear Perspex the vibration stops. But I have yet to figure out how to remove the dial surround so I can stick something at the bottom of the Perspex to stop the buzzing.

Just use addadfuses in the fuse panel for dashcams and then you cant even see the wires
