Never had a 100% brand new car nor new car warranty, I am completely in the dark to how fanatical they are with self servicing.
They would have no idea if you dropped the oil and changed the filter providing you use what vw recommend to do it.

VW say leave the oil in for 15,000km/12 months unless your driving meets the "extreme conditions" list in the manual. That will be their company line.
I can understand some people wanting to do an early change. Oil changes can be done by "any suitably qualified person" (VW's words), so if you fit that description the n DIY or go to an independent VW specialist. Don't get the book stamped. Use 504.00/507.00 oil & an OEM filter.

Personally, I left mine in for 15,000km & the engine is a pearl. Yes, I'm a suitably qualified person.

None at all, it's everything I hoped for and my expectations were pretty high. Only quirk is the stoopid BT Touch Adapter (which is redundant but can't be removed) is set up in Spanish. Don't care, it's going in a drawer as soon as the iPhone cradle arrives from Germany

Still learning the finer points of operating the phone via voice command and trying to play the actual song I want from the iPhone, but it's fun playing with some new toys.

Might make a couple of tweaks via VCDS but mostly I'm just going to enjoy driving it!

Hope you enjoy yours just as much!

Sounds good. I've got a galaxy s3 and the only holder to replace that bt screen is the bury 9 ones but apparently some codes need to be changed to get it to work. Don't know how much messing around is going to be involved but will look into it more after pick up. Got a guy coming on Wednesday to do the opti coat on it .

    Want to get vw to:
*book the car in 3-4 days after delivery for a oil drop.
*Have the latest dsg and engine updates installed.
*have the new breather pipe installed
*have them fiddle with the codes to have my galaxy s3 bury 9 system ready to go.

Are these reasonable requests and am I missing anything?

This is my first time dealing with a new car so I am in unfamiliar territory.
Why do you want to change the oil after 3-4 days?

The dealer should have applied all relevant DSG and ECU updates anyway.

Again, why do you want to fit a new breather pipe? Is it an aftermarket pipe you want fitted?

On the Bluetooth, there should be no codes. The whole idea of Bluetooth is that you simply pair the phone with the device.

    1. I have always dropped the oil after 10 hours of running in a new engine either in the car or on a dyno. It's just a personal preference after stripping down a few engines after being run in sometimes there is residue/material floating through the oil.

I am aware they update the software but do they slap on some sticker or something to show they have.

    2. After doing some reading some people have had a little less oil consumption/soot, others haven't so atleast I'll have both to test.

    3. I was under the assumption that if you remove the vw bt touch screen and replace it with a bury 9 phone dock that you get errors and connectivity issues without changing some codes. Can't seem to get a straight answer on this.
