No... the issue with doing this is that, the dealers don't get to put in the orders for the people that have "pre ordered" until AFTER the car is released. So even though Sharkie had his deposit down for over a year, no suitable cars came into the country, so he is still without a car and will just have to put a factory order in like any other person that wants to purchase one now....

Dealers should not be taking deposits for cars not yet released. Volkswagen Group Australia themselves say that the dealers should not be doing this.
