Oh ignore Ralfi's comment. The 5 door in Australia is guaranteed - it's the VGA strategy and it represents over 90% of the Australian market. What is not guaranteed is the 3 door GTI !!!![]()

Sorry, your post is a bit hard to understand... so I'll say it once more:
The new Polo GTI in Australia will be:
5 Door DSG only
That's it.
It is not available anywhere in the world in a manual. Plus, although overseas markets may get the 3 door, since that is such an unpopular option in Australia, Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) have said they have no plans for any further 3 door models for this country.
I don't really care what some sales person has said, this is what Volkswagen (Germany) have said re the manual, and VGA spokes man Karl G has said in relation to the 3 door. I'm pretty sure they're a better source than a saleman who is yet to receive any specifications from VGA.
Wow. Thanks for the info. Surprising. So when you say 3drs are unpopular, I guess that's taken from the Golfs 3dr sales figures as the Polo GTI was only in a 3dr up to this point in time?
Can't remember seeing the new Polo GTI in a 5dr, so maybe this is why I was leaning toward 3dr only here.

Yeah, VGA would be looking at the Golf GTI and the Golf R32 3 door vs 5 door figures. But it's not just an issue with VW. If you look at all the other car manufacturers in Australia, many do not bring their 3 door models, or have stopped.
I 'd say the marketing relates to the potential buyers age group.
that also relates to the price tag.
price --> Age --> need (3 or 5 doors)

I don't understand why you'd want to put a deposit down on a car that is still around 6 months away and you have not driven yet...
On saying that, Good luck BTTT, I hope you get what you want.
The old Polo GTI was available overseas as a 5 door.
if they were 5 door here i would have got one.
the only reason i was buying the car was to get to buller and back, and 3dr seemed a little impractical.
and noone: sharkie did that with the golf .:R- he went to the dealer and put $500 down on a car following this description: petrol turbo, all wheel drive, up-specced compared to golf gti, etc etc. apparently the deal was, if VWA released a car that follows that description somewhere down the track, he will have dibs on first stock. this was before they even announced the golf R overseas, and yet he was lined up to get one of the first golf R's in australia.
i think he's too busy playing with his tiguan now though....
