thanks for that info.....
6.1L / 100kms, and available in both 3 door and 5 door?
verrrrrrrrrrrry interesting....
it'll be interesting to see what the prices do, what with XDL, HSA & gear shift paddles as standard.....

Im still being told “late 2010” from my dealer, but if it drags into 2011 so be it. I don’t think though if it is 2011 that to announce pricing in October would be too unusual. Ford have already announced local Focus RS pricing and that’s not arriving to next year I believe.
I know there has been a lot of discussion regarding how much higher price will be over the current outgoing model but I don’t think it will be too outrageous. While I think its safe to say there will be a premium price over the old one, but as an example DSG as a current $2500 option doesn’t necessarily translate to $2500 above current model. You could argue that as its standard equipment costs are driven down. Either way I have my budget set aside, worst case scenario I can always get my deposit back. But lets use the Focus XR5 as an example. You can get them for 34/35k drive away.
Example:
XR5’s 2.5L, 0-100 6.8sec with 320Nm torque
vs
GTI’s 1.4L, 0-100 6.9 sec with 250Nm torque
When you look at it from that perspective to price the GTI mid 30’s on road VW in my opinion are really going to have to try hard to justify the price.
I think some of the BEST NEWS about that spec list is that they're offering it in a 3 door model!!! wooo!!!!
But yes, I'm surprised that there is no full leather interior, and that there is no mention of the Panoramic sunroof, nor of a Sat Nav option (even if it were just the RNS-315).
With the only "leather" option being leatherette/alcantara, I'd definitely be going to an aftermarket leather specialist instead.
That's what I'm hoping for. Anything around 35k or (preferably) lower and I'll probably go for it. Anything more and I'll stick with my standard Polo.
Still a bit bummed about no sunroof, hoping that's a mistake. Then again, the UK/German Polo's had the sunroof option even though we didn't (I think) so not entirely surprising.
Also a shame to see the steering wheel controls disappear. Not a deal breaker, but seems a bit strange.
i guess they're trying to make it ''more polo'' than ''more little golf''.
meh, the cloth seats will still be alright......longevity shouldnt be an issue if they're looked after properly.
besides, i dont like getting my balls pan-fried when i sit in a leather seat on melbourne's 48 degree major-bushfire-and-death-by-heatstroke inducing lovely summer days......
It's more of a case that by the time you add things like Bi-Xenon lights, auto this and that, DSG and potentially Panoramic Sunroofs, the cost is getting up there. To not have a leather option is a bit strange... especially since the previous Polo GTI did have a leather option.
