    GTI - footwell lights

I picked up my brand new GTI today, looking very nice in Oryx White with xenons. The dealer had done a great job in preparing the car and and I am delighted with it so far.

One thing that has surprised me is the absence of footwell lights. My MY12 Polo TSI that I just traded against the GTI, had footwell lights fitted as standard, but they are nowhere to be seen on the new GTI . It's minor, I know, but disappointing. Has the GTI never had footwell lights or is this some sort of economy drive from VW? Seems weird to me that a "lesser" car like the TSI would have them installed, but not the more expensive GTI.

Actually quite shocked your TSI has em.

In the Europe, they are standard on the top of the range.

If you'd like to add them, just get the Kufatec kit. Although instead of doing the hard way of adding it to the BCM, and recoding, I just tapped into the main interior lights. Functions the exact same way, and can even turn off whenever you switch off the interior lights.

Pretty sure you can also get off ebay, the bulb holders that go into the OEM position. Hard to explain but you'll know what I mean when you pop your head underneath each front footwell and see an empty position.

Thanks for the suggestion. The TSI was a standard NZ-spec 77kW Highline model. I'm going to work on my dealer to come to the party, given the TSI had them and I think I could have reasonably expected a newer, more expensive, more upmarket member of the Polo family to have them. They are usually pretty helpful. If that fails, then I'll head to eBay/Kufatec.

New Zealand VW seem to bring across a better range of VW vehicles than Australia. I remember that the Golf MKV was available in 4Motion in NZ, but not Australia. And you've got a smaller market than us. Go figure.

Australia Fail. Why are you guys coming over here?
