    GTI cat back options

    Hey guys,

Looking to get a bit more aggression out of the exhaust on my GTI.
I've thought about the resonator delete, but i'm not too keen on doing that.
What are the options for cat back exhausts?

I've seen that a couple of cars here have the milltek, which seems ideal, but may be out of my price range.
Does anyone have any experience with the supersprint?

    Thanks,

    Rob

This is a custom system I had done although its based on the magnaflow cat back. Cost me $1200 and uses same size pipe, same muffler, bends in same/similar area to prefab magnaflow CBE.

Options include Milltek, Jetex, supersprint, bastuck and soon to be released VAR design, Harding performance offer a turbo back, I'm not sure if you can order just the cat-back pert of the system though. Your other option is to make friends with an exhaust shop and get one custom fabricated.

That's just from memory but I'm sure there are others...

quick question is there really much performance gain from a cat back? I didnt really want to start a new thread but im tossing up between a cat-back and a full turbo back.

i do understand that obviously a turbo back will give alot more power gain but cant really justify the $2200 plus fitting costs

Basically, downpipe is for go, catback is for noise.

alright thanks team_v it does sound pretty logical when you think about it. Need the downpipe otherwise its virtually going to be the same restriction as before. Turbo back it is then..

You will need a tune if you go turbo back.

Not that I'm thinking about getting this done, but why would you require a tune after getting a turbo back exhaust?

Am I to assume the O2 sensors will get upset and throw up codes and spaz out the ECU due to the amount of volume going through the high flow cat?

    Just wondering, knowledge is power

Pretty much. The exhaust will be flowing too much compared to what the ecu is told that it should be, then like you said, it spazzes out, throws fault codes, runs like crap and then (not sure on the polo) it can go into limp mode.

So, always factor in a minimum extra $1200 on top of a turbo back exhaust for the price of a tune as well
