My wife picked up her new stock 2015 1.8l manual GTI last Thursday and after a couple of drives I'm thoroughly jealous.
In paper it didn't look like there were many differences but it's much nicer than my 2014 Polo GTI with DSG. The interior is more sporty, the entertainment unit has heaps more functions, and the automatic headlights are brilliant.
I traded a manual RenaultSport 225 cup for my Polo DSG 12 months ago because the Megane was close to death, but I really regret switching from manual to DSG. I drive my Polo in manual mode all the time but it's just nowhere near as satisfying or engaging, and way too laggy.
Good for thought if you're tossing up between the old and new model,

Agree is is a nicer car to drive than the old 6R, even with DSG. The S mode is more useable than the old but I still prefer to drive mainly in manual mode. It seems to steer lighter and more precisely than the old, must be the new steering, called 'electromechanical' I think.
