Got a call this morning saying my car is at the dealership.. will be picking it up next week!

And I just got a further call from VW Osborne Park.

"Hi, I dont know how to explain this, but when you upgraded your car from the default media player to the RCD510, the car configuration defaulted to a 5 door. We know you ordered a 3 door - but unfortunatelly that is what turned up. I've spoken to the owner of the Business and he is willing to go halves on the cost of the upgrade to 5 door - so you only have to pay an additional $600"

So you mess up the order, take 8 months to deliver, and then want me to pay extra. Jeezus.

No way would I pay the additional, sounds like they are trying to convince you that you caused the error. Geez some dealers have got a hide, tell him to take it out of the dealer delivery extorti....I'm mean charge, there's definitely fat in that.
Honestly if I was in your position I'd walk away from that deal and go look for something close to the spec I ordered.

That is so crap. If this happened to me after waiting over 8 months I would absolutely explode

What? It's your fault that you upgraded? lol ... I'd tell them to shove the $600 .. they should be compensating you for screwing your order up! It's bad enough that the wait is so long but thats a major stuff up to get a 5 door instead of 3.

I'd be walking away if I could get a 3 door Polo GTI with xenons and RCD510 in a short turn around - but the fact is I'd have to wait another 6 months at least. I don't want any more wait - but I will be going to the dealership tomorrow to sort things out.

Dude, do not pay a cent. ask them to show you on the contract where you signed for a 5 door model and are willing to pay the extra because they screwed up.

Get vw customer care involved immediately, simple as that.

I am definatelly getting VW Customer Care involved now - because the "5 door" that I apparently ordered now doesnt have the Xenon headlights upgraded I ordered either..
