Completely safe with the internals and nope, never had the Pistons replaced either. These guys have recently finished their "crazy-fast" map on a golf R with all stock internals on a daily driver and its happily producing 500hp, albeit with quite a few hardware mods like fuel delivery as well as the basics of intake, exhaust etc...

In light of your most recent posts, regarding all the inherent problems with the pistons in vehicles of our generation (among other things) ... Aren't you worried about pushing it?

Some time ago, I was advised by a tuning outfit to reconsider, given my pistons hadn't been replaced... A seller refusing to sell me their product! Well, that has me concerned. Which is why I was wondering if you had had yours fixed...

    Why aren't you worried?!

Oh, and performance Golfs have a much longer history and much more robust internals. I don't believe that because your tuner can tune an R, that tuning your car is necessarily safe. Not comparing like for like, there...

Nah mate, of course it's not but the main point is that these guys create power by optimizing every element required to make the power, not just up boost pressure, tweak fuel etc. they also optimize power delivery in each gear so just by fine tuning the horrible factory engine mapping they can generate a pretty huge leap over the standard vehicles. Also, I've had a tune for over 60000 of the 90000+ kms I've done and the car has always been better in regards to fuel economy as well as oil consumption since the tune so after working with Viezu initially to help develop a tune in light of the inherent issues with this platform they have supposedly taken this into consideration when developing the tune to iron out the software related kinks that can cause premature wear and failure. After seeing what RD Technik does, these guys take it to another level in regards to their programming so I will be even more confident with their product....
