Front headrest adjustment - seek help from all!!!

A quick question for everyone, when your front headrest is retract all the way down, does it have a gap?

I took my car (6R Gti) into my local garage & when it was returned to me both headrest was at the halfway position.
I couldn't for the life of me, get it all the way down... seems like 2 finger width is the lowest it can go.

I swear it used to go all the way down, like this

It's really pissing me off, as the back of my big melon is not resting right.
    Any help is much appreciated!

Did you press the little buttons that hold it in place One on each seat.
Ours only go down that far Is about an inch gap between bottom and the top of the seat

My car is the same, at least a 25mm gap no matter how hard I press on button and headrest. Annoys my wife as well.

In our case would be too short if it went all the way down Would only fit a midget as centre of headrest should be at headhieght
