For the headlight look in your manual.

    front grill/ headlight removal

Don't think it's in the manual but to get the headlights out, undo the wiring plug, undo the 2 top bolts and then push forwards. For the grill, I'll need to check the manuals.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but can anyone help me with removing the front VW badge?

The Matt black one I ordered just arrived and it seems to have three clips on the back which should just clip in. But how do I go about removing the stock chrome one? Anyone done it before?

    Thanks

Gavs it is in the manual because I used it when I changed my headlight bulbs.

100% in the GTi manual. would hope the same goes for the 77TSi regarding changing bulbs.

I've done both. Headlight = 3 bolts (or 2, all on op visible), grille = 4 torx screws on top, clips along top and bottom but be firm when pulling it towards you (standing from front)

Also for badge, take off mesh backing, then turn VW badge (cannot remember if anti clockwise or clockwise) and it should pull out. Hard to explain but it'll make more sense when you're doing it! Good luck!

So on the tsi, there is two torx screws to undo on the grill. Then four clips that hold it on at the top. I can get this far then the bottom resists quite a lot. Feels like something on the bottom is going to break, are there there more clips? Is there a trick to it?

Once all the top screws are removed, on the GTI that's it. You need to give it a good pull, or if you can get your hand behind, a good push. There's clips underneath which put up a fight. Whatver you do, don't try to swing it side-to-side to get it to budge, as there's a metal triangle as part of the corner section of the body that's sharp and can scratch/crack the glass. Straight out.

    But that's the GTI
. I can't speak for the TSI, though would assume it's the same set-up.
