yeh the bottom is pretty tough, i find u just pull one one side first, aka left or right with a smooth yet firm force and it should unclip, then repeat for the opposite side

Also, as I started the thread, I actually managed to get the front grill off last week. And only one finger was harmed during the effort. Winner! Now to get plastidip...
