Those are ugly fog lights, I found these and would not mind getting them. The only thing I will do is to wire them so that they come on when switching on the head lights and not use them as fog lights

Yeh saw those too. Have you had a shipping quote? Wanna go halves on shipping two sets over?

I don't know what the law is in Wa but its illegal to have fog light on when there's no fog and its a hefty fine here in NSW.

Hence why here in Australia, the DRL function is programmed into the dipped beam headlight, not the front fogs like overseas.

Yep, because it is illegal accross the whole country to run fog lights when it is deemed by the officer involved the conditions do not require the use of fog lights. If the programming has been set for the fog lights to be used as the DRLs then the dealership the car was bought from needs to re configure the settings.

All australian specced cars should use the dipped beam / parker globe mounted in teh dipped beam.

Running on fogs in the uk too is a no no.

Could the reflector and bulb not be changed to give a DRL option / effect though?

I suppose you could replace the reflector & bulb with some sort of LED DRL set-up. But if you're thinking of something similar looking to a fog light without the glare, you'll have trouble convincing a police officer that it's not a fog light. No issue with an engineering certificate of cause -but the dollars involved in getting one of those...
