Ask to drive a similar car & see how that drives.

If the dealer keeps stonewalling then ring VW customer assist and get a case raised.

Feel free to video & post here

    Hi Tessie
I also got myself a brand new 2015 81tsi Polo with Driving Comfort Pack earlier this year but mine hasn't shown any of the issues you've described.
Definitely get it checked out as others have advised.
    Good luck with it all.
Interested to see how it all turns out for you so feel free to let us know!

One issue with the VW manual is its synchro can be easily damaged by putting the car down into too low a gear, such that the revs would be excessively high. Even if you slot in the wrong gear but don't release the clutch it can do immense damage. You haven't done this by accident at all?

Might take my partner with me in case they think I'm just clueless because I'm a 19yo female haha.
Your age/gender may well have been taken into account by the dealer.
I'm not young nor female but I run into what I call "trade arrogance" regularly with tradespeople.
You give some......... people a piece of paper that says they are a qualified tradesperson and from that point they assume all non tradespersons are fools and treat them accordingly.
Have you allowed people you know and trust (friends family members) to test drive your Polo with you in the passenger seat?
If an unbiased person you know to be a really good driver is experiencing the same problem as yourself that at least should tell you if its your car or your technique that is at issue.

Hey guys, I'm new to here but figured I'd give it a shot.
So I've just bought a brand new 81TSI Comfortline Polo. I've done about 1700kms already and since the first week I've had the car, first and reverse gears crunch REALLY badly. If I'm stopped at the lights in neutral and pop it into first, as soon as I go it crunches and I have to take it out of gear and put it back in again.
With reverse I can feel when it's not engaged and usually have to let the clutch go a bit and it'll slide in at a certain point.
I've had my 1000km service and brought this issue up with the dealer and they got back to me saying that it was completely fine and quite common in front wheel drive cars. They also said it would pretty much fix itself when the car breaks in a bit more, when IMO it's just getting worse.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what could possibly done? Or has anyone else had this experience? Would love to know...
Hey, so I'm experiencing the same issue in an 8 month old MY15 66TSI - did you have any further on your issue? Mine was great for the first 6 months, but recently seems to be crunching more and engaging reverse is intermittently difficult.

My partner has driven the car and has also had the same experience.
I had a friend that works at the front desk in service so he booked me in and tried to get them to look at my car ASAP.

On inspection, they had mentioned that a whole bunch of Polo's have come out of factory with the same issue - apparently replacing the gearbox won't fix the issue. Volkswagen are apparently aware of the issue and they have don't yet have a current solution to fixing the issue. So in the meantime I have to put up with the gearbox and continue complaining about the issue until they have a solution.
Didn't get charged a service fee as they had located the issue.

Also make sure the dealer will contact you when Volkswagen finally find a fix for the issue. Because they picked up mine within the warranty-period, if for some reason it extends over, I should be covered.

Are you able to push the clutch right to the floor? No thick floor mats or such?

Glad mine hasn't had any of those issues Tessie. Super smooth and quiet, no crunching and slots into 1st gear at remarkably high speeds and NEVER baulks at going into reverse. Bought it at Wippells too and done 7000km in 7 weeks - it's perfect, just like our Golf.

I have VW mats that were fitted from the dealer, so no.. Clutch is definitely to the floor - sometimes i have to release it back a bit for the gear to pop in. Otherwise i sit there having to switch from 2nd or 4th (when the car is off or when i am stopped) to get it back into first or reverse.
