Thread: factory bluetooth not working with retro fited RCD 510

  1. #1

VW ripping off customers with basic bluetooth?

    hey everyone,

i retrofitted a RCD 510 to a friends polo 1.2TSI which came with factory bluetooth. however the headunit does not communicate with with the bluetooth system. however it does mute the stereo and bluetooth still works, but when you press the PHONE button it simply mutes the stereo rather than going to the phone menu options like speed dials, phone book like it does on my R.

    anyone help?

    cheers

ah crap just found this thread… http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...oth-62648.html

another question, seeing as the dealer fitted the 'factory bluetooth' in their workshop surely i have a case to argue that they should of fitted the 9w7 system instead? what are my chances of getting them to swap it for a 9w7?

Not good seeing as the dealer fit ones are generally different and from aftermarket suppliers....

this might require some more investigation seeing as she paid for bluetooth. surely one could argue you expected a proper factory system and not the boggo basic bluetooth module?

That depends on if it was the factory fitted bluetooth or the dealer-fit bluetooth that she paid for. She might want to check her invoice, it will show the specification of the car on it. From memory, factory-fitted and integrated bluetooth (th eone mounted under the driver's seat) is $800+....

The dealer fitted basic bluetooth is a complete waste of time and money. I expected more from it. I mentioned it to the dealer after I picked up the car but didn't get anywhere with it. I might purchase the 9w7 one off eBay. Does anyone know if they are easy to swap over?

now i'm concerned too. When I ordered my Polo GTI (and on the order/purchase order) it doesnt state any bluetooth at all. When i ordered, the sales person just advised that they fit the Bluetooth at the dealership..... I have an iphone and was hoping to use the BT module to do music streaming and audio/contact synchronisation too - maybe its possible to request the 9w7 bluetooth module from the dealer, or is it a factory only deal? Its pretty dissapointing it doesnt just "come" with the RCD510 head unit.

when im able to get some free time i will drop in to my dealer with a copy of the purchase receipt (i ordered the car for her) and go speak to the saleman that we went through. know him pretty well so it will be interesting to see what happens ...

come to think of it... ill get the purchase receipt for my R (same salesman) and compare the cost of the bluetooth pricing

well i looked up the first quote for my R (not the final price i ended up paying) which states the RRP prices for everything. full 9w7 bluetooth set me back $500....

from memory thats what my friend paid in her polo

    the plot thickens....
