    Fuel line maybe?

It tends to be slightly louder in the summer but I think this is due to the oil viscosity been thinner and thus moving around a bit more.

In all I wouldn't worry about it.

Also if you are wondering why I pretty much got a new gearbox it's because it was dropping the clutch every gear. The awesome guys over at Burwin VW put my car in for warrantee and replaced the mechatronics unit and the clutches. Right after I got it back it still had the problem and I took it back to get looked at. Cut a long story short they said the gearbox could now no longer be counted as a fault and said it could just be my driving style.

Needless to say after I did change my driving style it is working much MUCH better so i think there is more at play here when it comes to these gearboxes. Eg. software.
You sound like you work for them: change driving style???? I don't know about you, but I'm just a regular lady driver with no training in how to drive in one style or another. Perhaps they should put this in their GTI advertising "Only for the right style drivers".

If one day you plan to sell the car, how do you think you'll do this: by hiding the fact that the car rattlles and hope the buyer doesn't come back to you with a law suit after they discover the problem, or by being honest and trying to convince the potential buyer that the noise is harmless? I'm sure they'll be eager to buy it after that.

The bottom line is, a new car should not sound like a can of ball bearings being shaken around: that's a reasonable expectation of any consumer.

But there is no fault in the gearbox, this is what I saying.

That's like saying your manual gearbox is stuffed because it makes the high pitched winding noise in reverse. No, it's the way the manual gearbox is designed and has become the norm for people to expect. The same goes with the DSG the sliding sleeves that change the gears are operated by hydraulics which can have varying pressure and thus rattle. It's not a fault of the gearbox just a characteristic.

I think people make this a big issue just because they think it should sound sound like manual or like a tourqe converter automatic. The fact is, it is nothing like either, nor is a CVT but the sound it makes is similar to a torque converter auto which people are used to.
