You need a VW-approved 504/507 grade 5W-30 oil.
There is an alternative grade, but best to keep it simple for now.

As Umai Naa said, must be VW 504/507 certified. I'd recommend Castrol Edge 5W-30 (the type with the 504/507 approval - supercheap sell it) or Penrite Enviro+ with the same 504/507 approval.

This is what the 504/507 stuff looks like (I just bought this bottle today, incidentally). It's a different bottle and Supercheap call it 'Castrol Edge DPF'. Exact same oil as the VW-branded Longlife from the dealer (but cheaper)
