Wish I had read this before I fitted my Multigauge to the 6C about 15 months ago. Seeing the temperature gauge go as high as 107 C was a bit of a shock, phoned the dealership who were clueless as usual, advising if no warning lights don't worry.

Yeah more of the new tech engines are running their cooling this way with the exhaust 'manifold' cast inside the head. One that springs to mind is the ford 1.0L turbo ecoboost. Initially I thought it to be a great idea for keeping the exhaust temps low in the runners. It sounds like water cooled runners, but I wonder now if its less about that and more about using the temperature they generate to regulate the engines temp more accurately. ie get it up to temp very quickly and run it hot = good for emissions and consumption. I certainly wouldn't be shutting it down hot after a fang without a good cool down phase. Very compact turbo fitment wise but it makes getting the 'exhaust manifold' upgraded a bit more of a job considering that the head has to be off the car essentially for a massive port/runner job. Going to another turbo would only need an adapter plate onto the head though rather than a whole custom or aftermarket external manifold though. The other thing that surprised me was the bore spacing and block thickness. Its crazy what they can do now.
