    DSG Recall Database?

    Hi guys,

Ive recently bought a used polo 77tsi. The original owner purchased it in november 2011 and i was curious in regards to the dsg recall and this particular vehicle. He informed me it had been taken in under the recall and i found two recall stickers with codes near the spare tyre.

The DSG began shuddering over the weekend and i wondered if it had actually been serviced under the recall. I call my local VW service agent and he did a check on my VIN and informed me my vehicle isnt under any recall.

Either the guy who sold it to me is lying or the service agent has no clue?

Any thoughts or ideas? Is there a database we can look up our own VIN and recall codes?

You can try contacting Volkswagen Australia.
Send an email to vgasupport@volkswagen.com.au with "Voluntary Recall 35C1" in the subject line.
Include your VIN and ask them to confirm if the recall is required or has been carried out on your car.
Mine is up for the recall it's manufacture date is 04/11.

Shuddering in the 7 speed DSG is usually an indicator of clutch slippage rather than the mechatronics being a turd.

Hey mate. There is a database you can look at but it's not very good. It's on the Volkswagen Australia's website.

Just a few things I might point out:

The most recent mechatronics recall (35c1 I think it is) only went up to June 2011 builds - yours is excluded.

The failure of the clutch is not unexpected, I'll be honest I'm not sure what time they officially changed to the "new" clutches but I think is was first quarter 2012. Until that time I think they were using the old 2010 type which is prone to shuddering.

Another more generic recall has been done on these gearboxes (37g7) which is a software patch.

As you have a TSI you will also have the 24v9 service campaign which addresses a comfort issue with a rattling trubo wastegate.

Which stickers do you have exactly?

    Thanks for the replies peeps,

The two recall codes i have are 37G7 and 24V9 both dated 9/1/13 performed at VW brisbane.

Manufacture date on the sticker looks to be 08/11

The shuddering is also random, infrequent at least. I wish it were constant so i could take it in for a new clutch still have a year left on the warranty

    ^ What he said.

I have a MY12.5 and my DSG was shuddering. Had the clutches replaced and it hasn't done it since. *touch wood* The reason you may find it intermittent is because usually the slippage is more prominent when you have been driving for a little while and the clutches have heated up.

You still have warrantee? Very lucky indeed! If your even more lucky it won't get any worse (but don't count on it though)

I would definitely be getting a new set of clutches installed by the dealer though before the warrantee is up - more or less towards the end of the warrantee so you can get the max life out of them.

I found that after an hour or so of driving it would start playing up so try that and see if you can get it to play up consistently.

Thanks mate, it did happen after it was quite warm. Mostly engaging clutch on second gear at low speeds and really bad up an incline. Still have a year left on the warranty so i will take your advice and get them replaced later next year if i can hold out.
