DSG is quicker. Manual is more fun and involving for me. I've had my Dad's Golf GTI for four weeks now and will have it for another three and all it's done so far is confirm for me that a manual is for me all the way. If I had to sit in peak hour traffic every single day I'd think about DSG for a little bit and then the enthusiast in me would probably kick in and I'd get a manual anyway. To also add to it my Dad is thinking about a manual for his next car too (and he's had automatics since the early 80s at least).

We have the 77tsi with the DSG, we have always had manuals before that. The 7 speed DSG is a perfect match with the turbo motor as you always seem to be in the right gear and on boost. I nearly got the manual but am glad we got the DSG.
