Yes, it is a known issue, especially in the GTI polos. Yes, there is a fix as I have already had this fix applied to my car, it’s about a days’ worth of work. Yes, it is covered under warranty.
gavs, is there a code / reference we can quote to avoid unnecessary delays in dealership accepting claim?

What is the "fix" you had done Gavs? also as the above member asked, is there a code/reference number for this to be carried out? I've noticed my car is slipping between 2nd down to first once leaving my driveway going up quite a steep hill...its as if the car wants to cave in and die in the bum.

There isn't a specific service campaign but if you go into the dealership and go for a drive with the tech and you can prove the clutches are slipping then they will replace them under warranty. There has been revisions to the friction materials used in the 7spd dsg clutches to hopefully fix this issue.

Gavs, are you happy with the fix and do you consider it a permanent one...?

Well the clutch slipping is no longer occurring so yes, is it permanent? Well I sure hope these clutches last longer than 20,000kms but realistically clutches should last in a road car to at least 150,000-200,000kms depending on use and type of compounds.

I'm going to have to get this checked as well. I'm not sure if VW are going to be very helpful in getting it resolved but again I heard it today on my way to lunch so the problem is still there.

How do you know these things gavs... do you work for VW at all or something?

Car is booked for the 27th of July (to get a loan car) They believe it will take them 1-2 days to complete as they would prefer to pull the front a part to get a better idea of what is going on.

Do you have any further information about the "updated" friction materials used in the new clutch gavs?

I told them that during low speed cornering, exiting my driveway which leads to a very steep hill. The car stutters as well as hearing the gears grinding against the flywheel. Notified them that I once had an issue on a very steep hill that the gearbox engaged 3rd gear which led to the car to roll back...very dangerous.

Test drive not needed as they're pretty much aware its a clutch problem.

    Bassik, no, I don't

Hail, aside from the fact it's the second revision of the clutch material which happened 02/12 that's all I know. Makes me wonder about aftermarket clutches...
