Does it matter if they reset the delivery mileage?

The whole idea of the function is to delete the mileage from the factory to the holding yard to the train to holding yard to the RORO to the holding yard to the bond yard to the car transporter to the holding yard to the dealership and a dealer swap or two then to the window tinter / towbar / PD / whatever at the dealership. That way, you won't have a big cry when you get he car & it has 50km on the dial.

How do you think the car gets to Australia? Teleportation?

I've done 170,000km in my car. 100km at the front end means nothing.

If you didn't know, you wouldn't care. A bit like VW stupidly putting an oil temperature readout on the MFD. Suddenly people are worried about their oil temperature even though they haven't given it a thought in previous vehicles.

And sorry, but I can't find a reference to it. Possibly I saw it in VCDS when I got the car. It was 2008 and the memory is a bit foggy.

Yes, in the context of the total KM that one ends up doing on the car means nothing.

But, in the context of the purchase price, yes it does matter. 99KM Vs 15KM eg., ....which one will get the higher price?

Mine had 8 kms when I got her in October and she only has 3600 kms now.

Most of the cars (any brand) that gets PD'd at my work end up around the 20 mark

Should be doing at least a 10km test drive on top of whatever it arrived at, as per most manufacturers reqs.

mine had 10km - best new ones I've had were a Forester with 6km and a Camry with 4km - worst the mk7 Golf with 53km
