I was told initially when i ordered on jan 29th that it would be an 11 month wait with delivery expected Dec 2011. 2 weeks ago I got a text from the dealer saying the delivery had been updated to late september.

When I ordered my 77TSI in late Dec I was told by the dealer that they had a slot in week 9 available. Turns out they didn't and/or VW changed their mind. The major issue for me is that delivery after end of May causes me to need to do a major service and rego for my current car which puts me down almost $2k. The lack of honesty about what's going on is the hard thing. VW shouldn't have screwed up the forecasts for their GLOBAL VOLUME seller so badly.

From what I know and experienced, that 9 week build slot is some kind of pseudo first time default entry for dealers on the NADCON. It is really up to VG HQ to determine when the car will be built, not dealers. Yes, unfortunately this is common practice, and is misleading, the dealer should have told you this, guess he was going by the salesmans' greed of "get the sale and screw customer waiting";(

I ordered my Polo GTI from Essendon VW December 27th. The salesman advised me the car would have an April delivery date. Back in Feb i got a call from the dealer principal saying sorry but you are now looking at a September delivery. I was frustrated but understood that ultimately there was nothing i could do about it.

I went into said dealer this morning to ask for the NADCON printout. It says build week 27. Can somebody give me a idea as to when i should really be expecting delivery based on this info....

    Many thanks

Week 27 is the first week in July. So September seems realistic.

Went looking at some Polo's today.

Got told 4-6 month wait on the standard one, with a 12+ month wait on the GTi, there goes my plans for a GTi now.

Firstly Burned I was in your position, go and talk to the dealership and see if they are full of it like the guys at five dock were with me. It sounds to me they sold you a car that didn't exist and now that they have gotten more information are trying to save the sale. If your still keen on the GTI look around, the country dealers are great. Dont compromise for the A1 if your REALLY want a GTI. And definatley go in and try to renegotiate a deal with them giving you a 3+ month delay counts as not holding their end of the deal.

VGA really REALLY need to have a big shake up, they just aren't doing the cars or customers and justice. It seems to me that they are not doing their job as distributors and they need to be playing some hardball with VW in Germany. Oh and their customer service is SH**House!

When I was having problems I heard from a couple of dealers that they are pumping out around 800 Polo GTI's per week (I dont know how true this is or not) but I would be very interested to see the wait times in UK, Europe and the US. If these wait times are considerably shorter than here in Australia this is where VGA need to step in and earn their money and re-negotiate because obviously there IS the demand for these cars here in Australia.

I could go on and on but I already have mine...to put it in perspective though I am pretty sure I could order a Ferrari or something and get it sooner.

    Best of luck to everyone.

That's because smart people who don't like bing incinerated in their nice new $600,000 barbeque don't buy ferraris

On the more serious note, the UK are waiting between 4-7 months, ours is longer because we are only a drop in the pond for RHD sales. The us doesn't get the polo GTI, don't even think it gets any of the polos. Th factory might be pumping out 800 Polo GTIs a month, dealers won't be selling that many because most of them will tell customers straight up they can't get one until mid next year, it is only the pricks that are lyers and cheats (which seemingly are more prevalent in VW dealerships) that will get you to sign for a car that won't be built for at least 14 months.

As they say, a fish rots from the head down and Ms Koekler, with all her crap when she took the job as head of VGA about the improvement in customer service, sorry, if anything I would say it is now worse than before!

It also only takes 1 day for the ship to get from Bremerhaven to the UK... but you know - 35-50 days to get here (depending on port and shipping route.)
