Now I've heard everything. After the promise that my Gti would be a week 9 build, and delivery would still be landed, and at the dealer by 31 May, the delivery is now 'maybe' september IF the promised week 14 build occurs.
Part of the reason? VW Aus are giving 'priority' to orders from customers/dealers in Queensland! So. Now I've heard everything.
Time to contact the lease company and look for something else methinks, especially if I can get VW to compensate me for my losses.
thats a shame, VW shot themselves in the foot with the Polo GTI supply, i think.
I am glad we found a country/regional dealer that had a brand new one in stock.
That is a pity but I know what you're saying.
I only bought the Polo GTI because I was able to secure one from a regional dealer and that was without options. I was flexible.
I know I wouldn't have waited 6+ months for a car.

I'm sorry, but they better f****ng not be!!!!! The cars that "MIGHT" have gotten flooded wouldn't have even been here because guess what, THERE WAS NONE IN THE GODDAMN COUNTRY TO START WITH!!!! Yeah, queensland had some pretty bad floods, So did Vic after 18 months ago having the biggest loss of life to a bushfire ever, now perth is recoving from bushfires also. What about regional NSW?Part of the reason? VW Aus are giving 'priority' to orders from customers/dealers in Queensland! So. Now I've heard everything.
I really just hope that this is a lame excuse from your dealership because they can't get an answer out of VWA....
Stage 2+ Intercooler Carbon Intake Downpipe Swaybar DV+ Remsa.
Had to vent - the frustration is getting to me.
The dealer was fairly angry about the whole process - just as frustrated as we all are. He's got to sell cars he doesn't have, and can't get, to people. I'd hate to think just how many deals all the VW dealerships have lost because the car is just too popular around the world. And that's all models.
As to my losses, well as I'm leasing the car, I have to keep the wifes car until the Polo arrives. We had it sorted for sale in May and I had accepted the fact that the car would be worth $500 less - that's not a lot. Now, it's going top be 12mths older, and cost me a major service - all up will be around $1500 - 2000. All because I have to sell privately due to leasing. And if I break the lease, they have penalties I have to pay, and I haven't worked that out as yet - but again, I'm having a loss.
Oh well, I've vented my spleen here and feel better. Guess I'll have to see how the emails to VW Aus and VAG go. I'm not expecting anything though.
I was told a similar thing last week for my order. I looked at a few of the more rural dealerships and managed to find and pick up what I wanted (black 5 door and a couple of options) last week. Its defo worth a try anyways
i feel your frustration, as i keep getting calls from other city VW dealers following up on my initial enquiries about the Polo GTI, same story we have one here but its not ready for sale, but you can test drive it and then place an order for a car that we are not too sure of when it will be delivered but we have been notified of a lead time of 8-12 months ?? ! What the???!
Lead time for a GTI is huge. Ordinary Polo is also a long time, and Golf fairly long too. Dealer told me if I was ordering a Polo now, it would not be delivered till 1st quater 2012!
I guess VW are a victim of their own success. Read somewhere they have delivered 400k cars in 12mths, and it's going to be near 500k cars this year. I guess they're building them as fast as they can, but as they are so popular.....
Oh well, I'll talk to the lease company tomorrow and see what we can do. The dealer has a nice gun metal grey Golf TSI with the DSG and comfort pack on the lot... Not quite a GTI, but still a nice car - more room too, not that we need it as the LR D4 has more room than we need.
