    Damper fault. - MY16 GTI

Hi, thought I would ask if anyone else with a MY16 GTI has had an issue with the dynamic dampers.

My daughter owns the GTI, bought new in December 2015, and has had a 'damper fault error' appear in the MFD intermittently.

It has been back to the dealer 3 times and is currently with them as they try to get the fault to appear.

The fault first appeared on the day my daughter picked the car up and happened after 2 hours of driving ( I was in the car).
Dealer claimed that fault didn't appear in the cars fault log, the others have, but all the dealer does is clear the error.(so she is told).

At the 12 month service, they said they fixed the electronic park brake problem and that was the issue. 2 days after the service, warning comes up again. (sorry for the long post)

Just an update - apparently there is no fault because the warning light didn't stay on. Error codes logged aren't relevant apparently

The car was also returned with ice-cream wrappers left in the door bins and with no more explanation than , no warning light no errors. - good to see the shire vag dealers still providing a good customer experience.

We mentioned the unsatisfactory service to VW Australia, they really don't give a stuff about customers.

Hi mfl, Yes I had the same problem on my MY16 Polo GTI (built Dec 15). I got the error message same day I picked up the car from the dealer. The error code was traced to the rear left damper which was then swapped over from another new polo gti, however this did not fix the intermittent 'damper fault error' message which returned the next day. Eventually after two more visits they replaced the electronic controller boards and cables. This fixed it. I've now had the car for a full year without any further issues.
