Given the number of issues with some of the early 6R's, might be worth the wait?

Well I totally agree that we are small beer, but our currency (even with the recent drops) means we are an attractive market. Ive read some markets (like the UK) have been getting less cars since in the scheme of things the uk delivers less profit per car these days. Food for thought, tho i still reckon we will have CTHE cars here by the very end of '12, but what do i know LOL

Actually you might be right because I have been told first hand from 3 different branded, Thai built vehicle manufacturers that when they do production start-ups or changeovers then these vehicles get sent first to New Zealand and then the rest of the crap comes here with the odd decent example. One batch of D40 Navaras had all the panel sealant in the tub about 50mm off to one side due to the robot program being off, they got allocated to NZ.

Those changes look promising particularily the piston, might be to fix the oil problem. Seems to be plenty of MY13 dealer stock atm; any more whispers as to the timeing of this new engine update?

My GTI was built in week 44 and has engine number CTH 022###. On the Hoegh Shanghai due into Melbourne either 2nd or 4th of Jan. Probably won't get my hands on it in time to join the next Melbourne cruise though...

Haha, mine is due in same time, probably the same boat. Will have to call the dealer for an update, don't have a VIN or anything yet.
